I was asked to make this piece by my cousin who wanted the view from the back door of her colleagues home. The image I was given was a snowy scene of the bay at Finstown, Mainland Orkney, showing frosty foliage and calm seas. The image also shows the house with the boat repurposed as a roof.
I made two versions of this seascape. This is the second piece. It measures 29 x 14cm and is made using clear glass fired with enamels mixed in cool wintery shades. This piece required four separate firings to achieve detail and depth.
All my work is made by hand and fired in my kilns in my studio Ingaskeldt in beautiful Orkney.
