This light measures approximately 17 x 15 cm plus the wooden base.
The light is made using clear glass with applied Frits and enamels. The colours used represent the Summer Solstice at the Standing Stones at Stenness. The stones stand at the entrance to the peninsula where the Ring of Brodgar henge lies.
The Stones of Stenness are part of the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site, a series of important domestic and ritual monuments built 5000 years ago in the Orkney Islands.
The base for light is made by a craftsman in Deerness. The glass curve slots into the routed wooden base which also has an LED light, cable and plug fitted.
The colours fired into the glass create an atmospheric mood to the celebrated Orcadian landmark.
All my glass is made in my studio Ingaskeldt in beautiful Orkney.
