Description
This is a new piece. The square measures approximately 8x8cms.
I made this using clear glass and kiln fired the maeshowe dragon design in enamel with a subsequent firing of silverstain.
I drilled a hole and threaded an old gold silky rope through the gap.
Thought to have been carved in the 12th century by one of the Norsemen who broke into Maeshowe, a Neolithic chambered cairn situated on Orkney, the dragon was cut into the stone wall at the same time as the mound-breakers inscribed the runes that cover the interior of the prehistoric cairn.
The memento could be hung on a Christmas Tree or a window, a wall or anywhere else I haven’t thought of!
