White Lillies part of my Tile Collection.
All the designs are inspired by Art Nouveau vintage tiles.
The glass measures approximately 17 x 15 cm plus base.
I made this design using clear glass, cut from sheet glass, cleaned and sanded the edges.
The first firing (840deg.) includes fixing the background layer of black frit. After the kiln has cooled down (12 +hours) I added the coloured enamel flowers and leaves – again this fires at 840 deg. The third firing added the black enamel detail. The temperature needed for this high fire enamel is 750deg. The final 4th firing includes adding the band of Platinum Lustre and slumping the flat glass over a ceramic mould, to achieve the curved glass design. I would also check my outlines are bold enough and add any other last details.
DGR designs make the oak bases for me. Dave’s workshop is around 10 miles along the road from my studio. This new design will work for any other glass curves of the same size. The light source is loose and slots into the base. The light is illuminated by pressing the round light source. The LED light has a cable and wall plug.
The oak base has a clear lacquer finish or an ebonised finish. The glass and base are posted detached. Place the curve, centred over the glass grips. Tighten the screws on the grips until they just hold the glass. Don’t over-tighten the screws as the pressure could break the glass.
All the elements in this table light are hand made in beautiful Orkney.
