Description
This piece measures approximately 40 x 10 cm.
The design features the Blockship SS Reginald which lies on the sea bed next to the 3rd. barrier.
I made this using clear glass and kil fired the design onto the surface.
The design required three firings of hand painted enamels. The final firing slumping the glass over a ceramic mould. The result means the glass has adopted the curves of the mould and allows the glass to be free standing.
During World War I, to more completely seal off the harbor, the navy requisitioned and intentionally sank hundreds of ships in the narrow straits between islets. A century later, you can still see their rusting hulls poking up above the surf.
